Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Narragansett has an adorable historic downtown along the beach with plenty of fantastic dining options to please any palate. But of course, eating fresh seafood will be the star here. Located between the bay and the famous Towers is the Coast Guard House Restaurant. Since 1945, it has been a staple for great seafood with sweeping ocean views. Crazy Burger is a fun and casual burger joint that has a variety of menu choices, including breakfast items, burgers, and fresh juices from its juice bar.
For an evening of fine dining, look no further than the Spain of Narragansett for tasty Spanish dishes from paella to seafood and steaks. George’s of Galilee is an iconic seafood restaurant that has delighted guests since 1948. Situated on the waterfront, diners have a lovely direct view of Block Island across the Block Island Sound. Those searching for great oysters and shellfish will delight in eating at Matunuck Oyster Bar, where food is locally sourced and served fresh. Join the private Dunes Club to access miles of pristine beaches along Narragansett Bay and excellent dining options.
Downtown, residents can choose from several markets and boutique shops for all their shopping needs. One shop that stands out is Warm Winds, as it is the premier shop for anything and everything related to surfing, including boards, gear, and surf lessons.

Things to Do

With its position on the coast, Narragansett has an untouched feel with miles of open beaches, green spaces, and the ocean itself. Top activities that locals value in keeping an active lifestyle are fishing, sailing, hiking, kayaking, surfing, and spending time at the beach. The pristine Narragansett Town Beach, Roger W. Wheeler State Beach, Scarborough State Beach, and Salty Brine State Beach are the prettiest beaches. Avid hikers will enjoy exploring Black Point Trail and Whale Rock Trail, both with spectacular views of the ocean. On the southern point of Rhode Island’s coastline is Point Judith. It is a small village on the coast home to the ferry that transports people over the Rhode Island Sound to the idyllic Block Island. There are many great places to eat, shops, the Point Judith Country Club, and a lighthouse.
A two-day festival that includes a 10-mile road race, a parade of boats, music, food, and fun for the entire community is the Blessing of the Fleet held each summer. On Bay Day, the town celebrates all the natural charm the coast of Narragansett has to offer by inspiring residents to get outside and participate in one of many activities. And, in turn, finding a greater appreciation for the landscape and environment of their beloved town.

Narragansett has outstanding schools served by the Narragansett School District.
