Things to Do
As a coastal community, Barrington has access to numerous outdoor activities near or along the shores of Narragansett Bay. It isn’t uncommon for residents to own a boat and dock at the marina to explore the coast, whether you prefer sailing, yachting, or fishing. Those who choose to explore the water by kayak or paddleboard can launch from Bullock Cove, 100 Acre Cove, or along the Barrington River.
At Colt State Park, enjoy 464 acres of green space with hiking trails, grassy picnic areas, historic stone walls, and bike paths on Narragansett Bay. Those who like cycling with a view can hop onto the 14.5-mile East Bay Bike Path that connects Barrington with Providence in one direction and Bristol in the opposite. In the summer months, Barrington Town Beach and Warren Town Beach are the best spots to lounge on a sandy beach and cool off from the hot temperatures.
White Church is officially known as Barrington Congregational Church; United Church of Christ has been an iconic sight in town on the shores of the Barrington River for over 200 years. It makes for a beautiful viewing spot and is open for worship each Sunday. Barrington Public Library in the heart of downtown has a variety of classes and community events, besides having a great selection of books to read. Next door is a playground, a pond, and a grassy area steps from the waterfront to enjoy. A lovely lighthouse built in 1856 on the point past the Rhode Island Country Club is Nayatt Point Lighthouse. It is privately owned so admire it from the outside or, for the best view, from out on the water.
